The Spin Out Zone

This week we’ll SPIN OUT a track and a popular racing organization. What a
frustrating week for this NASCAR fan, so hold – here is the bump and the SPIN
OUT!

What in the world was up with Richmond International Raceway? I love short
track racing, but I was just as frustrated as the NASCAR veterans were with the
lack of two wide racing! I agree with Fox Sports’ Larry McReynolds when he said
that NASCAR sanction tracks should not be able to doing anything to the facility
without the approval from NASCAR. Texas was a pipe dream compared to RIR and
Kenny Wallace hit the nail on the head – with the money these tracks are
bringing in, REPAVE every 7 years or so, STOP RESEALING!

One thing was proven, no matter how bad the track, Tony Stewart still owns
Richmond! This weeks SPIN OUT goes to – Richmond International Raceway!

Now, I try not to SPIN OUT two in one week but this week I can not ignore the
Silly Season rumors surrounding DEI and Ty Norris. Just like the old saying
goes, family is family, but business is business!

We are seeing a huge change in NASCAR and it all is driven by the o’l mighty
dollar. The youth movement is here, sponsors are making the calls and owners
want their teams to jell faster than in the past. At DEI, Steve Park is on a
comeback after an almost career ending wreck and Michael Waltrip is starting to
see the light at the end of the tunnel with Slugger! Now both are facing rumors
of being ousted! It is extremely hard to perform under these circumstances and
DEI needs to put this to rest. I agree with Steve Park, if you are going to
replace him with a Jeff Gordon, by all means go for it! Improve the team, but
don’t make a lateral move with someone that has not proven anything. Let’s face
it, Steve was starting to excel before his wreck and look at what Michael has
done over the past 5 races. Plus we all know that he could have won Talladega,
but he agreed to protect Dale Jr. and the result was – DEI finished 1 and 2.

What better person to market NAPA than Michael! Have a heart and stick with
Steve through the comeback. DEI will bring home a championship with Dale Jr. and
he’ll do it with the support of his proven teammates.

Another SPIN OUT goes to – DEI and Ty Norris!

One last thought, I think Joe Gibbs will celebrate another championship soon.
Why you ask? Because his Winston Cup drivers are dedicated to Winston Cup. You
don’t see Tony racing Busch or Trucks. Bobby learned his lesson and now he
doesn’t do it. They are focused on their teams and that my friends is the
winning formula to a championship team. Jeff Gordon does not do it, Sterling
Marlin does not do it and look how Matt Kenseth has performed since he stop
driving in both series. Maybe Matt will catch on and not go back!

I respect the talent of the drivers that can do both, but ask RCR if it is
working.

Until the next SPIN OUT, happy bumping!
