The Spin Out Zone – Special Quick Bumps & Todd Bodine Gets Bumped

Hold on – here is the bump and the SPIN OUT!

After this weekend I’m feeling like Jimmie Johnson, I can bump anyone without
fear of bringing out the black flag. Someone explain to me how a ROOKIE can make
it look so darn easy! If you weren’t physically bumped out of his way like Casey
Atwood or Jerry Nadeau was, it looked like drivers just moved over and let him
fly by. What ever happened to making a ROOKIE driver work for a win? Guess the
times are changing!

I decided to put together a few special quick bumps because so many people
this week deserve to be bumped. WARNING: QUICK BUMP ZONE! Please keep away from
children or Kurt Busch!

Quick Bump 1 goes to – those that are SCREAMING – what is wrong with Jeff
Gordon: Give me a break, he is third in points only 160 behind Sterling and the
competition is stronger than ever. I truly believe these are Gordon fan’s trying
to keep his name above all others!

Quick Bump 2 goes to – those Busch Series teams moving over to Winston Cup:
I’m a BIG Kenny Wallace fan, but even I am disappointed that he is taking the
Busch Series team into Winston Cup. If you can’t win a Busch Series race in that
car, what in the world makes us believe it will win in Winston Cup? This has
nothing to do with the driver! I say put Kenny back in a fully owned DEI car and
let’s win some Winston Cup races.

Quick Bump 3 goes to – NASCAR for taking the passion out of the sport: O, to
be in Casey Atwood’s shoes this past Sunday. Here is a young man that has had a
difficult year. Being moved from one ride to another, no real crew chief with
the exception of the last two races and you’re struggling to finish in the top
15. Finally things are looking up, only to have a ROOKIE driver with a fast car
move you out of his way when you’re about to have the best finish of the year. I
am sure Casey would have loved to pay back the favor or even made his way to
victory lane to congratulate the winning driver, but with the wrath of NASCAR
dwelling over the heads of drivers, Casey could only bite his tongue and move
on. If my mind serves me correctly, Jimmie Johnson’s car owner (Jeff Gordon)
last year complained about being moved out of the way by Robby Gordon and then
said Robby should be embarrassed by how he won the race. Think he gave Jimmie
the same speech? Probably not!

THE SPIN OUT!

I am sure I will hear from the Todd Bodine fans after this bump, so whether
you are or aren’t, I invite you to sit back, relax and hear me out anyway. When
possible I will catch the Busch race, Winston Cup race and Mike, Kenny and
Johnny on Inside Winston Cup. This past weekend, I was fortunate to catch all
three. To my surprise, Todd Bodine was able to contribute to the outcome of all
three events.

I won’t point my finger directly at Todd for the mishap during the Busch race
with Jimmy Spencer, but I will tell you he could have checked up. Looking at the
replay, you can see Todd turned Jimmy’s car, however in this case both drivers
share blame.

During the Winston Cup race, without question Todd caused Joe Nemechek to
spin, ending the day for the #25 UAW Delphi Monte Carlo. Joe normally runs
pretty good at Dover and rarely do you see him get upset. But folks as we saw,
he was upset at Todd and he had good reason. Now, if Todd would have come out
and said it was one of those racing deals, similar to what Ryan Newman said when
he bumped Steve Park, this would not be an issue and I would not be SPINNING
Todd out. Instead, Todd goes on Inside Winston Cup and basically whined about
Joe and Jimmy trashing him on TV, and in the same breath took NO blame for the
incidents. WHAT? Todd, Todd, Todd! Look at the replay man! It takes two to
tango, and in one incident, YOU my friend were the cause! I understand you are
trying to look good for you’re new sponsor and you have six races to impress the
brass, but step up and take blame when blame is obvious. What would it hurt? Now
you have forced me to put you on my all time whining-list, right next to Greg
Biffle.

This weeks SPIN OUT goes to – Todd Bodine. Confucius says, "those that
take blame will some day find victory lane!"

Until next week, happy bumping!
