The Straw that Broke this Camel’s Back
After having to deal with the deaths of Adam Petty, Kenny Irwin, and now Dale Earnhardt – NASCAR has gone TOO far this time! Starting the Winston on a WET track with 20 cars is like standing on a battlefield with a butterknife. NASCAR what were you thinking? You have never started a race on a WET track — where is your brain — at the bank? The wreck and slipping cars coming off turn 1 could have killed or severely injured any of the 20 drivers on the track.
After losing Dale Earnhardt at the Daytona 500 – we thought you might have learned a few things, namely safety. But once again- its all about money! It is time you people at NASCAR headquarters open your eyes — get in the real world — and come to your senses. Without the fans support — NASCAR will go under if you do not put safety first and protect these drivers.
And to top it off during the rain delay — you let the 4 drivers in the wreck come back out with backup cars. What was the announcement? Oh, that these drivers could use their backup cars because it was an All-Star race and non points race. But the straw that broke this camel’s back–was telling on the radio that since the race had not started they could use backup cars. I clearly remember hearing that the green flag had dropped and having been a NASCAR fan for 15 years — that DOES mean the race had started. Since when in the history of NASCAR have you ever allowed backup cars and then restarted a race? What was the purpose? Was it because Jeff Gordon would not race in the All-Star race – the one NASCAR seems to push so hard to replace the GREATEST DRIVER IN NASCAR HISTORY- Dale Earnhardt??
Well NASCAR that will NOT happen-not in this lifetime! Allowing the use of backup cars and restarting the Winston was BS! That was the worse Winston I have ever witnessed because NASCAR bent ALL rules!
For the sake of Dale Earnhardt’s memory and dedication to NASCAR, I only hope NASCAR gets its act together. It has been 3 months since his death and yet NASCAR has done NOTHING and the Winston only proved safety to be of NO issue.
Where are your major concerns NASCAR? Unless some major changes take place SOON, the history of NASCAR may just be in jeopardy!
