A Day To Make Us All Cry
It has taken me almost the entire day to
find the words to write this column and I still cannot even begin
to put into words the emotions that are screaming through my body.
I have cried, I have been angry, I have been numb with
devastation. This will only be a few words. My
emotions will be many more.
For the past 8 months we’ve all mourned and
lamented the loss of Dale in a NASCAR race. Even though
that still hurts a little, today makes us realize just how
insignificant that event really was. What is the life of
one NASCAR driver, no matter how great, when it is obvious the
loss from this attack will number in the thousands?
I was watching Squawk Box on MSNBC this
morning when they cut away to show the hole from the first hit
and saw the second crash live. I immediately knew what was
going on and got on the phone to my parent’s cell phone, who are
vacationing in the northeast, on the off chance that they were in
the NY area. I never got ahold of them but, left voice
mails asking them to call me. Later this afternoon they
were able to get a call out and talked to my sister here in
Vegas, just to let us know that they are up in New Hampshire and
quite safe. I never want to have to go through something
like this again.
I am quite confident that President Bush
and all our leaders will calmly and coolly investigate the attack
and will then make a decision as to what action to take.
And as the members of Congress said while standing on the steps
of the Capitol tonight, "we stand shoulder to shoulder
united behind our president." I stand with them.
Anything short of a nuclear bomb will have my full and total
support.
