Kurt Busch, NASCAR Get Bumped – The Spin Out Zone

What a great weekend for race fans! I enjoyed the format, the fan’s vote to
invert all 10 cars and the drama. I was not disappointed and I hope you weren’t
either.

Being a wild and crazy race fan, I wanted a bit more drama. So I put on my
marketing pit cap and came up with this new aspect for the No Bull Sprint. The
second place car from The Winston Open would still hold the pole. However, the
second place starting spot for the No Bull Sprint would be determined by a
lottery pick. A lucky fan could participate in the lottery by revealing the car
number. This would give any driver in the No Bull Sprint the opportunity to move
up in the field. Luck of the draw and a marketing dream come true!

Hold on – here is the bump and the SPIN OUT!

Before I move on and tap Kurt Busch, let me say I really like Kurt. I like
his driving style, his sponsor and his personality. But NASCAR 101 has taught us
that when you purposely take out another driver, the proper response would be
"it was one of those racing deals". Instead Kurt is so darn honest
about it all, he reminds us of how a certain driver (Jimmy Spencer & Robby
Gordon) has taken him out of a prior race to justify his actions. I’m certain
the guy’s got a checklist of drivers in his pocket that have done him wrong in
the past. Who is on the Kurt "take-out" list and who’s next?

I am sure all drivers have their own method of revenge, but none that I have
seen flat out admit it on a regular basis. Kurt is basically throwing fuel on
the flame. By doing this he’s not making any friends and it will certainly come
back to bite him. Jeff Burton, his Roush teammate left him out to dry at Talladega.
Even though Kurt finished strong, Jeff would not follow him and help him to the
front. Hopefully things aren’t turning sour in the Roush stable or maybe Jeff
was staying away from Kurt because he knows at anytime, pay back is coming.

This week’s SPIN OUT goes to – Kurt Busch for believing honesty is the best
policy.

QUICK BUMP – I have to SPIN OUT our friends at NASCAR. What in the world does
"actions/conduct detrimental to stock car racing" mean? Does it mean
something different for each driver? I do not understand how they can give Kevin
Harvick probation and fine him $15,000 for getting in the face of Greg Biffle on
pit road after the Channellock 250 NASCAR Busch Series race at Bristol Motor
Speedway. Kevin did not throw a punch and he basically gave NASCAR enough time
to prevent the situation from happening. On Monday, May 20th NASCAR fines
Elliott Sadler ONLY $5,000 for throwing a helmet at Ryan Newman’s car during The
Winston.

I guess it’s just me, but what Elliott did put himself and other drivers at
more risk than what Kevin did. If NASCAR were in the points race as are the
drivers, they would be at the bottom. We all know drivers are rewarded by
consistency and NASCAR has not been consistent when handing out the penalties.
It makes no sense and because of their inconsistent stance on rules, NASCAR has
boxed up one of the series best new talents, his sponsor and team to a point
that all they are doing is riding out the year. The sad part of it all is
Kevin’s fans can’t enjoy his aggressive style of racing that got him to where he
is today.

Another SPIN OUT goes to – NASCAR for their inconsistency and strong-arm
attitude.

Until next week, happy bumping!
