The Spin Out Zone – Andy Petree, Jerry Jones Get Bumped

Hold on – here is the bump and the SPIN OUT!

Silly Season might keep the media in a frantic hunt for breaking news, but
for a NASCAR fan, the anticipation keeps our minds very busy. Whether you’re
working, playing or just plain day dreaming, inquiring minds want to know!
Knowing where Elliott Sadler will end up to predicting the dreaded day Steve
Park will be removed from the #1, we play out in our mind the moves we’d make if
only we owned their team. But like the media, we wait patiently for the next big
headline.

Speaking of the next big headline, a major Silly Season development is
happening right under our noses. Unlike the typical Silly Season moves of
replacing a driver or crew chief, this fairy tale involves and an entire racing
organization. If you love NASCAR, then you might not want to turn the channel.
This puts a whole new meaning on "how bad do you have it!"

It looks like Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys and Andy Petree,
owner of Andy Petree Racing are partnering to run a Winston Cup two-team
operation. The #55 Chevy from reports will change to a Ford, and it will be the
first car to carry the primary sponsorship of a NFL team, the Dallas Cowboys.
Not that there is anything wrong with this philosophy or even the fact that we
are going to start seeing Jerry Jones strutting himself, suit and all in the pit
area, my concern is that this places a red stamp on the fact that NASCAR is
changing.

Jerry Jones is a successful, ruthless businessman. He is going where the
money is and he is seeing dollar signs from here to his Texas Stadium office.
This maverick, who bought the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Stadium for $140 million
turned a 3-13 team into Super Bowl Champs. He made many enemies along the way
including the NFL when he declined to follow the NFL Properties regulations and
signed his own sponsorship deals causing the NFL to file a lawsuit against him
for $300 million. He has hired and fired the best in football and now his once
dynasty is back on the loosing side of the field.

Enough with the facts and lets begin the spin! Jerry Jones is bored and is
looking for a new toy! I think Andy Petree is looking for a relationship similar
to that of Chip Ganassi and Felix Sabates. I can tell you that the Jerry and
Andy show will not compare to Chip and Felix. Jerry Jones does not understand
how NASCAR works and he is in it for the CASH! Unlike Felix, Jerry Jones will
want total CONTROL and Andy will be left doing no more than crew chief
responsibilities. Andy Petree is lost in the moment just as a college basketball
player would be when shown THE MONEY! Mark my word, Andy will fall victim to
Jerry’s desire to rule the world.

Just imagine, Jerry Jones being called into the BIG RED TRUCK for a wrist
slapping. It won’t happen. Like he has done in the NFL, he answers to no one.
He’ll change the rules, the way money is distributed and the way sponsorships
are handled. NASCAR will never be the same! He’ll demand immediate results or
his driver and team will pay dearly. RUN BOBBY RUN!

Believe me, with Jerry Jones this is just the beginning. First Andy Petree,
then he’ll own the Texas Motor Speedway and soon after that, NASCAR. I am sure
in time Andy Petree will look back at this moment and regret this business
decision.

This week’s SPIN OUT goes to – Jerry Jones and Andy Petree for putting the
love of money before the love of racing!

Until next week, happy bumping!
